Alison provides both short and long term therapy. In an initial exploratory session, she will discuss with you the issues in detail, and provide an assessment and plan for the therapeutic work. Your wishes and goals as a client are central to this.

Importance is placed on the relationship with clients, whether involved in short or long term therapy. At the heart of how Alison works, she offers a very supportive environment, whilst at the same time providing open and honest feedback, and encouraging authentic dialogue.

You will explore the issues that you bring so that you gain a deeper and better understanding, and are then helped to work towards satisfactory resolution. You will be encouraged to be true to yourself, to acknowledge who and how you really are. You will be helped to make real and meaningful choices about your life and changes you may wish to implement in order to lead a happier and more satisfactory life.

Confidentiality is one of the most fundamental ethical and legal obligations owed by counsellors to their clients.  Alison follows the BACP ethical framework which means that details of any counselling sessions will not be disucssed with anyone else without the express written and verbal permission of the client.  There are exceptions which may occur in rare circumstances including where there is risk of harm to yourself or others, where there is an overwhelming and compelling legal obligation to do so.  Confidentiality will be discussed in more detail in your first session.

Alison works with organisations providing wellbeing services to employees. In addition to this, she accepts referrals from GPs and workplace settings and is a registered provider with several private healthcare companies.
